What are you doing now?
I am Vice President and Partner at Walker Sands, a B2B marketing agency located in downtown Chicago with offices in San Francisco and Seattle. My job is to serve as senior strategic counsel to my team and build and grow relationships with clients’ senior marketing leaders and executives. I lead a team of account managers who work to execute marketing programs that help fuel growth of our clients' businesses. I am responsible for coaching and mentoring my team, creating new processes and solving problems as part of the leadership team. I am also the mother to two young children, Austin (named for our favorite city) and Logan.
How has working for K&N helped you be successful in life?
One of the best lessons I learned at K&N was to embrace ambiguity. Working in the corporate office, I didn't always have the answers to problems or a process to follow. I was often at the helm of projects that required decision-making through gathering and analyzing data and fear of failure would have been paralyzing to getting the job done. This has helped me immensely at my current company and in my life. Moving forward is important and you can't always wait to have all the information. I also learned a lot about coaching and hiring for cultural contribution.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Starting my career at K&N was a wonderful opportunity. I was given so much autonomy and was able to experiment and innovate, things that have served me well throughout my career. It was here that I learned that the people make the job. The culture at K&N set the bar for my standards in a company and working with the team taught me so much about collaboration. I will forever be grateful for my time there!
